A dominant factor in determining an HV Stator's lifetime is the quality of its manufacture. This is normally verified through standard offline testing during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
Common FAT electrical measurements include:
There are recognised industry standards that help determine acceptance criteria for rotating machines, including but not limited to:
Monitra can implement comprehensive offline testing during FAT or following maintenance activities as part of a quality assurance programme.
These same offline tests can also be used as a method of condition assessment, here an asset can be removed from service and tests can be performed and trended over time. Note that appropriate caution should be taken in selecting tests as artificial stresses may be introduced (eg Hi-Pot test).
